An Idea For YouTube - "Key Ten Seconds"

Problem: You're having a general meander around YouTube looking for things to watch. Some videos are longer than others but a few minutes is a long time to watch a dud and you can't rely on ratings - everything being subjective.

Idea: When people upload videos to YouTube they could select a "key ten seconds" of their video. Here's how it works: When you're searching for videos you would have the option to watch just that key ten seconds (in addition to having the option to watch the video in its entirety). This key-ten-seconds option would be available for all videos on YouTube, wherever they are displayed - be it on the front page, in your favourites, in the "related videos" area etc.

Compilations could be created featuring featuring just key-ten-seconds of different videos. So, if you're searching for Elvis you can see various ten-second segments of different videos and choose the ones you want to watch in entirety.

This is a great idea! How about create a You Tube video of your suggestion and see if you can get some groundswell -- then they might take notice...

I've contacted them - they have an area on the site where they ask for feedback on new features. They don't ask for general feedback though, unfortunately.

Thanks for reading and commenting Jimmy! Great to get feedback.

YouTube are not exactly easy to contact and there doesn't seem to be a Feedback area on YouTube. I'll see if I can contact them via their blog.

On the Ground…

One of the above, plus one of what is seen below, plus 7 of these were lying in the yard. Nobody put them on the ground, but there is a very good reason for their being there.  Can you figure it out? Answers can be entered below, will reveal submissions before the week is over!

When Bobo the Bear sent in his Lateral Thinking Math question, he also pointed me to this exceptional Christmas Tree challenge-note that you must have Java installed to play. It’s a lot of fun, and actually not very hard. Hope you all have a Merry Christmas!
